After a week of glorious sunshine, fate had other plans for our Closing Day. Saturday afternoon turned out to be the soggiest weāve seen in agesābut that didnāt dampen our spirits. With the green soaked and the skies unrelenting, we shortened the match to just 9 ends (we think!), and embraced the shared joy of getting drenched together. Thereās a special kind of camaraderie in collective sogginess!
As for the resultāno surprises there. The Gents claimed victory once again. Commiserations to the Ladies, but thereās always next year!
Once weād dried off, the festivities continued in the Village Hall. The tables looked fantastic, the food was well received, and the bar was flowingāperhaps a little too freely. If anyone else is nursing a headache from that mysterious 0% German/French/Spanish Bier, youāre not alone.
President Michael Orr steered the presentations with his usual calm authority, and Angela deserves a special mention for personally congratulating every prize winner. A lovely photo was arranged featuring all our Club Champions and Competition Winners, what a wonderful looking group ā well done to each of you!

As the evening drew to a close and the last bits were tidied away, we headed home happy, hopeful for drier days next season⦠though still dodging the rain.
ā Donāt forget: a few events are planned during the close season, so keep an eye out for updates!
