Members may already know that our greenkeepers’ storage container—faithfully serving the club for almost 30 years—had finally reached the end of its useful life. After a fair bit of searching, and working within a very tight budget, we managed to source a suitable replacement. The next challenge was getting it to Brookfield.

Armed with their brand‑new, top‑of‑the‑range Hiab loader crane — a magnificent beast worth over £250,000 — our team of men and machine were ready to work some serious magic. They lifted and removed the old container, collected the replacement, and then eased it into the vacant spot behind the Village Hall with the kind of precision that would make a watchmaker proud.
Once everything was moved across and neatly stored, something remarkable happened: Greenkeeper John smiled. A proper smile. Those who know John will appreciate just how momentous that is.
