🌧️Persistent rain couldn’t dampen enthusiasm
Not even the persistent rain could dampen the enthusiasm at Brookfield Bowling Club as we officially opened the 2026 season on Saturday. After the first bowl was delivered by Angela Orr, wife of President Michael Orr, the hardy crowd who had braved the weather sensibly relocated to the comfort of the village hall to continue the afternoon’s celebrations.

🎉 Marking 125 Years of Brookfield Bowling Club
The first order of business was a proud moment for the club. To mark our 125th anniversary, we were joined by Mr Colin Reddy, Bowls Scotland District 25 Coordinator, who presented President Michael Orr with a commemorative award recognising this milestone.
A sincere thank‑you to Colin for making the journey at short notice and in such challenging weather. We hope your next visit includes the long‑promised game on a much drier green.
🍰 Home Baking, Raffle Surprises, and Community Spirit
With formalities complete, attention turned to the raffle and a wonderfully prepared afternoon tea. The spread of home baking was exceptional — heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed their time, talent, and ingredients.
As for the raffle… does anyone actually know how many prizes there were? The generosity was remarkable, with gifts ranging from the expected to the delightfully unpredictable. Every donation was appreciated, and every prize found a grateful winner.
🌟 Try Bowls — Coming Soon!
Keep an eye out for details of our upcoming Try Bowls events, arriving soon at your favourite bowling club. Whether you’re brand new to the sport or just curious to give it a go, we’ll have plenty of opportunities to step onto the green and enjoy a warm Brookfield welcome.
