The weather was kind on Sunday afternoon for the first in our series of Try Bowls events at Brookfield Bowling Club.

A healthy number of guests arrived — all willing and able… OK let’s be honest, displaying varying degrees of ability — but every one of them keen to give it a go. And great fun they had too.

Grouped into teams, the afternoon began with some friendly competition on the target bowls. After that, a well‑earned cup of tea and a slice of cake set everyone up nicely for the next surprise: a great deal of laughter around a paddling pool on the green. Yes, really — a paddling pool! From there, it was on to more competition, this time rolling bowls into a scoring grid.

If you didn’t manage along this week, don’t worry — we’ll be developing the theme over the next few Sundays. Come along next week at 2pm, right here at the club. You’ll be made very welcome. Who knows — this might just be the fun, relaxed sport you’ve been looking for.
