What do we expect of our Scottish weather?
Try Bowls was a complete washout yesterday — but really, what else can we expect from the Scottish weather in May?
Despite the very heavy afternoon rain, seven determined guests still turned up, ready and willing to play. Unfortunately, in those conditions the green becomes slippery, so instead we decamped to the village hall for coffee, cake, and a good chat. Perhaps that’s why they braved the rain after all.
Next week we’ll be looking in a little more detail at some of the important basics, and if the weather behaves, we hope to have a short game as well.
The final session of this Try Bowls series will be on Sunday 31st May, and will take the form of a Wappenshaw — that’s just a straightforward game for anyone unfamiliar with the term. We’re hoping a few more of our existing members will join us to help guide the newcomers along.
We look forward to seeing everyone back on the green next Sunday (24th May), and we’re already excited for the 31st and the prospect of welcoming a few new members into the club.
