Brookfield Bowling Club welcomed teams from across the district for the annual Morag Malcolm Invitation Mixed Triples, once again generously sponsored by the Malcolm Group.

Sixteen teams competed, with visitors from Kilmacolm, Kilbarchan, Bishopton, Spateston, Woodlands and Robertson Park joining seven Brookfield teams. Despite an unfavourable forecast, the weather stayed largely dry, with only a few light showers.

After a day of closely fought matches, the semi-finals featured teams from Robertson Park, Kilbarchan and Brookfield. The final saw Kilbarchan’s Evelyn Gilchrist, Craig Caldwell and Duncan Gilchrist take on Brookfield’s Mary Taylor, Dennis Taylor and Marion Stromberg. In an exciting finish, the match went to an extra end, where the Kilbarchan trio emerged victorious to claim the £180 first prize. The runners-up received £120, while both losing semi-finalists collected £60.

The standard of bowling throughout the day was excellent, with the close contests and dramatic extra-end final providing a fitting conclusion to another successful and enjoyable competition. Brookfield Bowling Club extends its thanks to all the players, volunteers and supporters who helped make the event such a success.
