Bowls Scotland has highlighted an urgent need for more umpires across our area, as fixtures are becoming increasingly difficult to cover. They are asking clubs to help encourage members to consider taking up umpiring — an important and rewarding way to support the sport.

New Umpire Course – Starting September

A new training course will begin in September, with the following structure:

• Four weeks of home study to complete the theory element
• Four practical sessions, held on Sundays across October and November

The course fee is £25, and Brookfield Bowling Club will cover this cost for any of our members who register.

Who Can Apply?

You don’t need any previous umpiring experience. The course is designed for newcomers and is a great opportunity to:

• Support the sport at a vital level
• Develop new skills
• Become more involved in competitions across the area

How to Register

Anyone interested can:

• Contact our Club Secretary, who will assist with registration
• Or register directly with Bowls Scotland using the link provided in their notice: Register for the Umpire Course

Bowls Scotland is hoping each club can put forward even one or two new umpires — small numbers that would make a big difference.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with our Club Secretary or contact Bowls Scotland directly.
